G’day Travelers,
Hope all out there are ‘travelling well’.
I have just returned from a trip through the Simpson Desert with two photographers and a writer from Conde Nast and National Geographic fame. The story to follow will feature ‘outback pubs’ and quirky outback characters.
We covered 5000 klms on some of Australia’s most remote roads – from red sand dunes – to flat salt pans – a great experience for those who love REAL outback conditions.
We used the latest model Landrover Discovery and had a dream run – not even a flat tyre!!
Early in March we ran the inaugural – ‘Ghan to the Never Never’ trip – looks like we will be doing it again next year based on the positive feedback from our 17 guests. We had a real adventure retracing the footsteps of Jeannie Gunn – writer of the classic Australian tome ‘We of the Never Never’ based on her outback experiences at the turn of the century. More info about Ghan To The Never Never 2008.
Award winning Travel Writer Dan Scott joined us mid February in Kakadu to do a story on the dynamic WET SEASON — you can read it by clicking on http://travelaustralia.ninemsn.com.au/article.aspx?id=229911
This month we have an interesting project developing that involves an eco tour by boat on Australias East Coast , then later I am up in the Kimberley doing work with Orion Expedition Cruises, then out on safari into Aboriginal lands.
I hope 2007 has some great adventures ahead for you!!!!
Safe travels,
Mike Keighley
